Best fitting cover I ever had!
I got this cove to replace my worn out Kuryakyn Primoshield Half Cover, which lasted 8 years. I ride a 1600 Nomad with a batwing fairing and trunk that is from a HD ultra classic, and the Primoshield fit a little loose but was OK. This UltraGuard fits like a glove. It has elastic all the way around (the Primoshield had none), and like the Primoshield, it has padding on the inside to keep from scratching the windshield and trunk. The only thing I don’t like about it is the “S” hooks, they are bare metal, but so was the Primoshield. So before I used it, I put some 5/32″ heat shrink on the hooks, and heated it so it would stay put. If your looking for a good half cover to fit a large touring bike, this should be on the top of your list.
So I have to say, I love this cover, it is so much better than the reviews led me to expect. It keeps my bikes sensitive areas dry when it rains, cool when it’s hot and it keeps my stuff a little more hidden which adds to it’s security. Allot of people have complained that the hooks on the security straps were metal and could damage your bike, this is not true. The hooks have a rubberized coating on them that makes them perfectly safe around your paint. My bike has hard bags a trunk with a luggage rack and a fairing on the front with a large windshield. With all of these things this cover fits perfectly. It even covers my trunk bag and my trunk when I have both installed. The best thing about this cover is it’s size though… It is super easy to stash and thus encourages more frequent use
Perfect For My Purposes – And What a Bargain!
I bought this from Amazon as a “used” item for about half the price of a new one. Described to have a 1″ flaw or blemish at the front of the cover. After installing it on my 1500 Goldwing I cannot find the blemish. The cover came in the original box and stuff sack. Everything looks brand new.I bought this cover to carry along on the occasional trip where I’m parking overnight at motels. The cover installs SO MUCH easier than the full cover I’ve used in the past, and occupies less luggage space. This leaves the side bags easily accessible plus the cover can be slipped off (and onto) the back to easily access the trunk: All pluses in my opinion, for my purposes.. The fit is perfect, even over the extra tall windshield I have, AND it’s easy to install for one person where the full cover required 2 people to install easily. I’m a happy traveler so far. I’m taking the bike on a week-long 2500 mile trip next week and if there’s any reason to change my 5 star rating I’ll report back here upon returning.
Great cover…with a couple of mods.
Fit my 2007 Harley Davidson FLTR perfectly. I did, however, make 2 improvements. First, I marked where the antenna would come through the cover. Then I heated a nail punch and pierced/cauterized the cover. Now the antenna slides right through. Secondly, I took some heat shrink tubing and covered the 2 hooks that hold the cover down. No worry of scratching the paint while covering. Fit and finish of the cover is superb. Highly recommended.
Nice for garage use
I gave it 4 stars for one reason – it’s not as snug as expected for the specs of the Honda Goldwing as stated. A great protective cover for leaving the bike in your garage, but not good protection against the elements as we’ve used it in over 10 western states. The clips (bungees) are fine for just having your bike sit after a ride as they don’t touch the hot pipes, but if it rains, be prepared to have a wet bike, and if a good wind catches it, it will blow off the front and/or rear of your bike as the elastic grip is not a “custom” fit as they state listing several types of bikes and years. For the price, great color assortment and indoor protection against scratches & dust, I would definitely recommend it. For outdoor use, it looks good, but you may want to look a little further.
2014 Kawasaki Concours: fit / quality good, a little color fade
Recommended. I’ve used this almost every day at work on my 2014 Concours 14. It’s had about 2 months of use so far. The fit is good for this bike. I have a Pelican Case I use as a trunk so without that case it would cover my saddlebags completely. The pipe on this bike is close to the saddlebag so a hot pipe *might* be too close for the cover, but I’ve only ever used this with my trunk so I don’t know for sure, it might be fine. As it is it works very well for my bike. Easy to put on and take off quickly, no problems with wind, but it’s also typically not very windy here in central North Carolina. The sun has caused some color fade after a couple of months, so if I ever need to replace it I’m going with the light grey color instead.
